Privacy Policy
In short: Ahead keeps everything you write on your own device. We don't collect, receive, store, share or sell any of your data. There's no account, no analytics, no ads, and the Android app doesn't have permission to use the internet.
Who we are
Ahead (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a calendar app for Android, developed independently by shaunniekins. This policy explains how the app handles information. If anything here is unclear, contact us at REPLACE_WITH_CONTACT_EMAIL.
Information we collect
None. We don't collect personal information, usage data, device identifiers, location, crash reports or analytics. The app contains no advertising or analytics software, and there is no server or account system for it to send anything to.
Information stored on your device
To work as a calendar, the app saves the following only on your device, in storage private to the app:
- The tasks and events you add — titles, notes, times, dates and repeat settings — and whether they're done.
- Which days you've crossed off, and any one-line daily reflections you write.
- Your settings (for example theme, first day of the week, reminder preferences).
- A copy of today's and upcoming days' items, used to draw the home-screen widget.
We have no access to this data. It's deleted when you uninstall the app, or when you use Settings → Clear all data.
Device backups
If you've turned on your phone's own backup (for example Android's backup to your Google account), your device may include Ahead's data in that backup. That backup is created and managed by your device and its provider under their privacy terms — not by us, and we can't access it.
Exporting and importing
You can choose to export your calendar as a file. The app hands that file to your phone's share sheet, and you decide where it goes (for example a file app, cloud drive or message). Once shared, the file is handled by whatever service you chose. Importing reads a file you pick; nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Permissions the app uses
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Notifications | To show reminders for timed tasks and events, and the optional daily “ready to cross off today?” reminder. Only if you turn reminders on. |
| Alarms & reminders | To deliver reminders at the exact time you set. |
| Run at startup | To restore your scheduled reminders after the phone restarts. |
| Vibration | For reminder alerts. |
| Ignore battery optimizations (optional request) | So the system doesn't delay reminders. You can decline; reminders may then arrive late. |
The app does not request internet, location, contacts, camera, microphone, or storage-wide file access. Reminders are scheduled on your phone itself; their text may appear on your lock screen depending on your phone's notification settings.
Links to other services
The app's Settings screen includes optional links (for example to our Buy Me a Coffee page and a WhatsApp channel). Tapping one opens that service in your browser or its app, where its own privacy policy applies. The app sends nothing to these services itself.
Sharing and selling
We don't share or sell any data, because we don't have any.
Children
Ahead isn't directed at children under 13, and it doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone — children included.
Security
Your data lives in the app's private storage, which other apps can't read, and is protected by your device's own lock screen and encryption. Keep your device secured and up to date, and keep any exported files somewhere you trust.
Your choices and rights
Because your data never reaches us, you're in full control of it on your device: view and edit it in the app, export it, or delete it with Settings → Clear all data or by uninstalling. If you have a privacy request or question, write to REPLACE_WITH_CONTACT_EMAIL.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes how it handles data — for example, an optional paid sync feature between devices — we'll update this policy and its effective date before that change ships, and describe it clearly. Features like that would always be opt-in.
